OSHA defines a hazard as the “potential for harm” associated with conditions or activities that, if not controlled, can result in an injury or illness. Allied Resources can tailor your machine hazard assessment to meet your specific needs or choose one or more levels of our machine hazard assessments which are detailed below.
Allied’s hazard assessment recommendations follow the basic hierarchy of hazard control:
- Engineering – physically change machine or environment (isolation, guarding etc.).
- Administrative – changing how or when workers do the job (scheduling work and rotating labor to minimize exposure).
- Work practice – training workers how to reduce their exposure while performing the task.
Level 1: General Overview Assessment
Allied safety professionals perform a walk through of your facility assessing machinery operation/processes. You can choose a complete assessment of all machinery or specific machines to assess.
- Identify general safety issues.
- Identify machine specific hazards that were observed.
Can be combined with a Level 2 or Level 3 assessment.
Level 1 General Overview Assessment Report includes:
- Observed safety issues not compliant with applicable OSHA, ANSI and NFPA79 2012 standard/regulation requirements.
- General Observations/Safety Issues Table.
- Summary of report
Level 2: Comprehensive Machine Specific Hazard Assessment
Allied safety professionals observe, examine and photograph specified machinery at rest and in operation.
- Identify general safety issues.
- Review and discuss with operator and supervisor the specific machine operation process and machine use.
- Observe and discuss operator interaction with machine.
- Identify safety issues hazards specific to machine.
Level 2 Comprehensive Machine Specific Hazard Assessment Report includes:

- Review and discuss with operator and supervisor the specific machine operation process and machine use.
- Observe and discuss operator interaction with machine.
- Identify issues hazards specific to machine.
- Perform risk assessment to identify frequency of exposure and severity of hazard.
Level 3 Comprehensive Machine Hazard Assessment with Risk Assessment Report includes:
- Full Level 2 Comprehensive Machine Hazard Assessment Report.
- Risk analysis of identified hazard(s) citing potential for frequency and level of potential severity.
